Quality farming, quality processes and quality of life for our livestock are key factors in delivering quality final products.
Commitment to animal welfare simply makes sense to us here at Alliance Group – and we hold our animals in high regard. To ensure we do right by our livestock, we uphold the ‘Five Freedoms’ that form the basis of internationally recognised animal welfare practice:
- freedom from thirst, hunger and malnutrition
- freedom from thermal and physical discomfort
- freedom from disease and injury
- freedom from fear and distress
- freedom to display most normal patterns of behaviour
These are the key drivers of New Zealand’s internationally recognised Animal Welfare Act and Codes of Welfare.
Alliance is a participating member of The New Zealand Farm Assurance programme (NZFAP), which provides confidence and certainty to the millions of consumers world-wide that the red meat produced from New Zealand’s sheep, beef and deer is authentic, genuine and safe. It includes assurances in regards to integrity, traceability, bio-security, food safety, environmental sustainability and animal health and welfare.
Alliance works with and rewards our farmer suppliers to supply NZFAP certified stock.
The NZFAP incorporates three fundamental components of origin and traceability, food safety and animal welfare. Refer to www.nzfap.com for all information and access to all resources.
With farmers audited every three years by an independent audit and certification body the NZFAP delivers to both national and international food safety standards. Additionally, the programme and independent audit body are JAS-ANZ accredited. JAS-ANZ is the government appointed ‘Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand’ responsible for providing accreditation, certification and inspection to ISO standard ISO/IEC17065.
